Are scholarships available to high school seniors who will be college freshmen in the fall?
No. Because funds for scholarships are extremely limited, college scholarships are available only to sophomores, juniors and seniors who have earned at least the minimum GPA and who qualify otherwise. Other scholarships are available to students attending one of the six SBC seminaries and to medical, dental, pharmacy and nursing students.
Is any financial assistance available to high school seniors who will be entering college?
Yes, a new program (TBF Educational Grants) has been developed for college freshmen who demonstrate extraordinary financial need. Read about this elsewhere on this website.

What is your deadline for receiving scholarship applications?

Do I have to be a full-time student?
Yes. Full-time status generally is considered 12 hours of study or as specified by your institution.
Does your Foundation offer scholarship assistance to seminary students?
Yes. However, you must be attending a seminary affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
If I receive scholarship assistance for this school year, does that mean I automatically receive assistance next year?
No. All students must re-apply each year to be considered for scholarship aid.
May I fax or email my application to your office?
No. All applications must be original and may be mailed or delivered personally to the Foundation's office by 4:30 p.m. (CDT)on the day of the deadline. Please see the Scholarship Application for this year's deadline.
What should I send with my application?
Several items are listed on the application instruction sheet. These items must accompany your application or your application will not be considered.
Does the Foundation award scholarship money for summer school studies?
No.
Does the Foundation award scholarship money for doctoral studies?
The only scholarships available for post-graduate study are seminary scholarships for masters level study and medical scholarships for doctoral study in medical, dental and pharmacy schools.
Do I have to be a member of a Tennessee Baptist church?
Yes, unless you have moved your membership from a Tennessee Baptist church to a Baptist church in the vicinity of the college, university, or seminary that you are now attending. In such cases you must have been a member of a Tennessee Baptist church immediately prior to your college church membership.
May I send my application in after the deadline?
No. All applications must be postmarked or in the Foundation office by 4:30 p.m. (CDT) on the day of the deadline. Please see the Scholarship Application for this year's deadline. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the disqualification of your application. NO EXCEPTIONS!
