Each year we recognize the recipients of TBF scholarships as we celebrate the investments of numerous Tennessee Baptists in the education of worthy young people.  Congratulations to each of them.  And may each recipient be a good steward of their opportunities.

How have these scholarships come about?  Through their Last Wills and Testaments a number of brothers and sisters in Christ who are now in heaven directed resources from their estates into the foundation’s scholarship program.  We pray that others will join in supporting this significant cause.

But there is much more to the foundation’s story than scholarships.  Through their thoughtful stewardship the estates of scores of Tennessee Baptists have created charitable trusts and memorial funds from which net income is distributed every year to support various Great Commission causes in Tennessee and around the world.  The ministry of the Tennessee Baptist Foundation is to assist Tennessee Baptists in the development of their distinctively Christian estate plans.  Then the foundation is equipped to administer the funds which come into its care in perpetuity, managing the investments of the funds, accounting for every penny within each fund and distributing the net income earned to the named beneficiaries.

Net income from the funds administered by the foundation are directed to some 145 different ministries/missions, to our benevolent ministries (Tennessee Baptist Adult Homes and Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes), to our Christian education institutions (Harrison-Chilhowee/The King’s Academy, Union University and Carson-Newman College), to Woman’s Missionary Union, to the Cooperative Program, to local churches and associations, to our Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong and Golden offerings for missions, and other kingdom causes chosen and specified by the donors.

Since 1991 (the last 20 years) the foundation has distributed $76,503,299 to the various Baptist causes it serves.  Since 2001 (the past 10 years) the Cooperative Program alone has received $4,304,646 from  memorial funds left by faithful Tennessee Baptists!

Your Tennessee Baptist Foundation, since its humble beginnings in 1938, has grown to a place of significance in the Great Commission story of Tennessee Baptists.  Every Tennessee Baptist can have a part in this great story by creating a legacy of faithful stewardship through Christian estate planning.  We of the foundation stand ready and eager to assist you.

The Tennessee Baptist Foundation is the trust and investment institution of The Tennessee Baptist Convention. It's purpose is to assist Tennessee Baptists, churches, and the Convention to lay a strong foundation under those insitutions, causes and agencies supported by the churches of The Tennessee Baptist Convention.
